"The Spirit of Ahab"

Meet Andy and his vessel, "The Spirit of Ahab". I found them in Portsmouth on the south of England. In January Andy and his girl, Rosalind, will drive Ahab south to Spain, get on a ship to the Canary Islands, then launch Ahab into the North Atlantic for a row to Barbados.

Ahab is 23 feet long and 4 feet wide with two rowing stations fore and aft. Their intention is to row together all day with a five minute break every half-hour. Then one will "go below" for three hours of sleep, then the next, repeat, then both "on deck" for 12 more hours of tandem rowing.

If fortune shines, they will pick up the NE Trades and with wind and wave astern make it across the ocean in 80 days - that's when food runs out.
They hope to move at a fast walk. I wished him well.
