Welcome to Panama, the maritime crossroads of the Western Hemisphere where large commercial traffic and smaller ‘pleasure craft’ gather for passage between oceans.

On the map find the blue dot, our Hylas 46, a good sea boat, capable and attractive, ready to deliver to Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
Note also the red North arrow appearing to point 120 degrees too far to the right. The Canal runs North-South not East-West.

Next to us on the dock another sailor straight from Antarctica westbound through the Canal across the Pacific to New Caledonia.

Early AM 27 days later, drifting over Stellwagen Bank north of Cape Cod awaiting the whale watching fleet to lead us to the humpbacks. Fine finale to 2705 mile passage.

Thanks to the rotating crew: Peter - owner, Alex, Oleg, Olga and my wife, Sue, for constant weather reports!
